All of these are on Canson MiTeintes paper and are 6"x9". They were commissioned for greeting cards...

Beautiful job Mike.
Are they pastel pencil or color pencil. All your cards are terrific.

Mike, these are great. You must be making a living off of your art with all of those commissions! Good for you. Keep 'm coming!

Hi Gene! Not quite "making a living", but at least paying some bills. I've been very fortunate to aquire this card account and have gotten several commissions over the past few months. If I were only making dollars instead of cents on my work I would be a little better off. But, I'm not complaining!!!!
Thank you for looking and commenting!

Hi Kim! Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to look at these!

Thank you, Michele! This was an absolute surprise to me. I was informed of it by a good friend....I didn't know of it until then. I guess I wasn't thinking anything I would ever do would make pick of the forum???!!!!

Thank you Michele, and whomever makes the pick!

Hi Mike...

These look great! The first one is definitely my favorite. Love the background....and I've always love the dogs with flop over ears I like the detail work in the fur and backgrounds of the other two.

Hi Mike,
I just came upon these by chance as i rarely visit the colored pencil forum - these are absolutely beautiful. I love the expressions on the animals and the perfect setting you placed them in.

Thank you Jess, and Priti!
I really liked doing these, and as much 'un-practiced' as I am at CPs, I do like the way they turned out. It made me give away my old not-so-good pencils and upgrade to a better brand. Seems there might be an issue with lightfastness in my old brand?
Anyway, thanks again for taking your valuable time to comment.

Hi Mike,
Love these pictures. Don't usually look here. Glad I did. Just think of all the smiles they'll receive as people get them in the mail.

Thank you Kassie and Maggie!

Maggie, these are created from photos supplied by the client. I 'tweak' the subject as per the client's wants/needs and these are the end result. I do usually work from reference photos in all of my work, but the photos are mostly taken by me, for my use exclusively.
Thanks again,
Mike

Hi, i love your work. I've just come here the first time today and have seen some work here on the forum.

I love this first dog and wish I had seen it yesterday....I do pet portraits too. Yesterday I brought one of mine to a critique group of mine and they told me to add a background to my "white" dog. I'm not pleased with what I ended up with and if I had seen this first I would have gone an entirely different direction. This is unfortunate as I am entering this portrait in a contest and then later it is off to the owners. I always go through things like this in my head. I'm sure everyone else will like it well enough, but  I'm not happy with the direction I took with the background and now I can't change it. I love what you have done and I love learning from it. Thanks. I will try to post a photo of the portrait I'm talking about but I have never even been here before. I haven't downloaded the last photos I took of it yet. lol. (what no spell check???)
