I'm doing a pastel drawing on board that is primed with acrylic.  What kind of fixative should I use? I know there are fixatives for pastels, and different kinds for acrylic/alkyds, but I can't seem to find one that's safe for both. What should I do?

I rarely, if ever, fix my pastels. It destroys the painting by darkening the colors, blowing some of the pastel right off of the paper and altering the texture of what is left. Unless you are "fixing" an undercoat, I would not spray pastels at all. The only other time I would fix pastels is when I have a support that will not be laid flat, something rather large that would need to be rolled for transport.
