Okay - I just started this one but instead of asking for comments 'after' I am finished (or think I am), I am going to try posting as I do the painting and this way, I can incorporate any comments or suggestions along the way. Hope you enjoy...

Hi Maggie, I look forward to seeing the progress of this painting. What size is it? Leon |

| 18 x 24 on Canvas. This is the usual size I work with. Almost tempted at times to try a larger canvas but seems a bit intimidating. |

| Oh, Maggie, I can tell I'm going to like this one, too. The foliage is fantastic and the little boy - well, you've got his little posture and strut perfect (aren't little boys cute at that age?) I'm glad you're showing its progress and I can't wait to see it completed. |

Thanks Mike, Kim - I did not get too much time but I have touched up the trees and the little boy a bit more. Hopefully, I can finish this by the end of this week. I know I have to work on the clothes a bit more. Do you think the leaves are okay?
Any comments? |

Again I'm chiming in later than I should have, but here goes anyway Great colors, I wouldn't touch the leave or the little guy. I'm wondering tho, if you might try letting some light peek thru some of the trees on his right. Not much, but just enough to break down that wall of trees a bit.

| I agree with Bill - don't touch the leaves or the little guy. The light he mentions would add a nice touch. |

| Cute picture. What I think you should do is tone down the brightness of the hat just a touch. It seems to really hit me in the face when I look at the painting. Maybe on your painting it doesn't look so bright, though. I often have that happen to my lighter colors when I post the painting...........What do you think? Gene |

| FINISHED! Thanks, it has actually been fun! With your help, you make it that much better because I spend that extra time trying to incorporate your suggestions. After sitting at the painting for a long time, you do not see the obvious anymore. I did however, tone down the hat a bit, put some light on the jacket etc., and brightened up the woods and trees a bit. Until next time... TAG.. your it! |

| The picture is great. I would darken the forest towards the more distant trees and, if you can, get some daylight to show thru among the trees. I think that you have to go out a take a look at this forest in the evening and see how the sun plays through the trees and and over the leaves. Captureing the light is one of the things that artists have been playing with for centuries. Wonderful mood but I wonder if that hat on the little boy isn't too white. It draws my eye to it and keeps it there so it is hard to look at any other part of the picture. I do hope that I am helping rather than discouraging you. |
