I was watching "The Worlds Fastest Indian" decided to sketch. Never posted anything to the drawing section before. This is not nearly as complex and detailed as most of the other drawings. I love to sketch people, and would love any comments. Thank you.

You have good value concept... I could definitely see this turning into a good completed work. Have you done many complete realistic portraits? I see great potential for that in this sketch... was this from just watching the tv or did you have a picture that you looked at?

HI!! I am new to the forum and also do quick sketches from life when I'm out and about. Your sketch is awesome! It catches the essence with areas of detail and it really captures "the moment". This is something I love in sketching that a more sustained drawing frequently loses. Way to go! Keep at it! I have had great positive response to my drawings from my often unsuspecting subjects and have even made a little "coffee money"! And the immediate positive feedback is REALLY a kick and keeps me going!

I agree with ssw, it's a great sketch and looks like a great start to a finished portrait. Do you do finished graphite portraits or do you prefer to sketch something and then move on to the next subject?

Thank you so much for the comments. Because of a really good teacher, I carry a sketch book with me all the time. The trick is to not let them see what you're doing, because then they get uncomfortable, and ususally get up and walk away! I have done a couple of pencil portraits, but prefer oil painting.

Thank you Squirley52, and Adam. I do too. I love the quick sketch better than the detailed portrait. I do prefer to work from life. Altho I have tried a couple things from photos. I always have a tendency to be to tight when using a photo. I appreciate all the comments, thank you.
