All kidding aside, I learn something every time I look at your work, Rosie. This will be another one of your usual great pieces! Can't wait to see this finished... Mike |

Hokum, I guess I neglected to mention this was a start of a work in progress. Almost finished. This one of my drawings won't have alot of white areas.
Mike, Thanks again, I am using Cansons' marker paper it is thin and smooth, so smooth it isn't grabbing the darks a well as I would like. I got it to use markers....but. I might of made a mistake or waisted a lot of time drawing the petunas if this paper doesn't hold the pencil. ...Oh, well good practice.
I'm almost finished w/flowers. Thinking composition needs something. But the paper is only 8.5x11 and my drawing is 3x9centered. May not be any room for a still, I'll study that idea.
See ya' later

| Very nice work! The "unfinished" slide reminds me of Andrew Wyeth's drawings and to a lesser degree Wayne Thiebaud where there is some odd figure ground relationship. Your hand and eye are unmatched! |

Finished.
I once thought at the beginning of this drawing that it would need to have a still to be pleasing to the art critic or judges eye.
I don't think that way any longer, I am finding that the still would interfere with the softness, and would draw your eye from the the flowers. Therefore the drawing is finished and is pleasing to my eye, I may have been wrong with my discision. It won't be the first time.
Thanks for the compliments everyone...I am a little unsure on the Wayne Thiebaud???

It's been several days since I've viewed your petunias, and I'm totally wowed! This is an excellent drawing. Rosie, with your skill and speed, you make drawing look so easy. You've inspired me to spend more time drawing, which I have actually been doing a little of. |

Thanks....Yeah Kim, pick-up that pencil....it's calling for you...
that is great, get a stack of unruled 4x6 index cards. Stick a couple in your purse, on the night stand, end table. They are great for mini drawings and idea sketches. Go do it .....now.
go on.
get. .............go

| You have a great hand at this. I've not seen drawings comparible to these in a long, long time. There is a something about them all. A softness, a gentleness, you are drawing from your heart, not your hands or your eyes. I feel that you are a kind soul and it shows in your art. These are not simply pencil drawings, there is much, much more to these. |

I want to say that I thought 'Realist's' compliment was the best!
Rosie...I kind of know what Holcum meant...suggesting I think that you consider leaving some of the paper untouched. It can be
a powerful effect as well...like how the picture looked when you're about half done...gives less of a 'wallpaper' effect...but I feel like I'm advising DaVinci ! Both ideas are beautiful...but you might try one...where you leave some brite white interwoven around the edges. But--mostly I want to say the petunias are so lovely...I could almost smell them...and we all remember them from granma's garden! |

Realist, what nice words, thankyou. I do draw for my heart at times calming others like a new love can't wait to see it again, want to spend all day with it and hate to say goodnight. Jen what a cute little logo, thanks for the compliment. River............I am not really try'n to paint or draw in any certain style, I do have some vinettes and full page "wallpaper drawing" .....Each drawing I have posted here has never been planned out, it starts as an idea and as I am working on it, things appear, an inch at a time. As I get closer to the edge of the paper if the ideas are still coming I keep drawing. If they stop, I stop. I enjoy drawing, It is part of my life, like breathing.............................Rosie |
