Pet portrait is about finished it was started while I was waiting to see if I had mistakes in the Dr.'s dad...then I felt I had to do the african voilets because they are about to be in full bloom and the leaves are soooo fuzzy I had to try to draw that.....now I am ready to start the Dr's dad...but I don't have my heart in it because of the distractions I started have my heart....especially the violets.

All three are nicely rendered! I love the addition of grass between the dog's paws. You have a real gift for drawing grass, leaves, trees....all that nature stuff. The 3rd pic....looks a bit like Billy Blanks....the Tae Bo guy But the addition of hair will probably change that a bit. Great work!

Jess, thanks I love to draw grass and leaves, On the 3rd pic, I don't know who you are referring too, but, I wasn't going to draw in the dark hair, just an outline is all I need 'cause I'm going to paint over it...I was back in Ohio over the weekend and showed the pic to the client, he said that his dad was 87 in this reference photo and never got a grey hair....either this photo is worse than I thought in capturing detail or I got my handsful knowing he's 87 years old. I can't believe it. Besides that, the Dr. had no other comments. This reference photo is a mimograph of a photo (the only pic he has of his dad), then I enlarged it from a 3x5......there is no color in it, besides the blue ink.
I am painting this week. Cross your fingers, for me.

I have tried the B&W to color and it is hard. At least it was for me. I hope we will see your final picture.

This is looking great Rosie! I would relax the upper lip on the right (the higher lip). It looks like a bit too much upper lip on that side and gives him almost a pursed lip look. Just my thoughts. Can't wait to see this when it is finished!

My husband had the same comment about the lips....I can't see where his lips start and stop in the reference photo............
I just sent a clip to the Dr.
I'm breathless on his comment.

Fantastic work, Rosie! I love the detail in all of your pieces. I also love the values and textures...I just love your work!!!!
