One of my pencil studies taken from my sketchbook.  This drawing is of Kodiak Harbor during the fall season.  Been thinking about starting a series of drawings of the various harbors throughout Alaska.  In the early days Kodiak Harbor served the King Crab fishing fleet that worked in the Bering Sea.  But that honor now goes to Dutch Harbor.

I think this is one of my favorite skethches of yours. It is nicely rendered and I think with a few more details on the water..... it could stand on it's own OUTSIDE the sketchbook

Jess, thanks for the comments.  I thought about taking it a bit further with details in the water.  American artist James McNeill Whistler did a series of etchings along the coastal communities in England of various ports of call.  Here are a few etchings  Black Lion Wharf, 1859 and Rotherhithe, 1860.  Whistler's travels in England have been an inspiration to me over the years.  Been thinking about doing a similar series along the coast of Alaska.

WOW! I like those pictures! I'll have to check out more of Whistler's work on-line. I love it when the artists here post some of their favorite works for others to view. I had never been exposed to Edward Hopper's work until someone posted his stuff here. You should definitely do that Alaskan coastal tour. ....it would be great to see your series of sketches based on those coastal ports. Thanks for laugh....with the cat & the yogurt in your other post
