Your drawing skills are incredible. Each one of the items is rendered beautifully (the keys are so real!). I only have two suggestions: (1) I think the composition would be more appealing if the three items weren't so close to the same proximity of each other (ie, move the apple closer to the bag). (2) I'm not sure what the cross mark is on the left, but it distracts me and I would have left it out.
My first real still life (not from a photo) was from a couple of paper sacks and a three apples. It still remains one of my favorite paintings so therefore I naturally have a fondness for this drawing. |

| Thanks for the generous compliment and critique. As for my placement of the items, I generally prefer objects to overlap. On this particular piece I chose not to go that route because I didn't want to stuff 3 objects in a confined space with a lot of excess space around them. I had drawn the bag first and had a different idea in mind as to the other objects in the piece, but then changed my mind and then opted for the apple. Moving the apple closer to the bag would've, I feel, created too much void on the right side. Although, moving the keys to the left a little could've been a good choice. As for the "crossmark" you speak of, I placed the objects over a wrinkled/folded tablecloth. Now, I love to draw all the folds and creases, but felt it would be too much for this and not only detract from the objects, but conflict a little with the wrinkled bag. I opted to do an "abbreviated" version of the folds and wrinkles (which are more noticeable on the original). The crossmark is a winkle from a fold in the fabric. I left it in because, for me, it leads ones eye to the bag. If you consider it distracting, I can understand that and see what you mean. Perhaps, the other folds would need to be more present to cause this one to not to take so much attention or, as you said, it should be left out all together. Definitely, these are things to consider next time around. |

I like it just as it is, Maybe a little deeper shadow encluded closer to the bag and apple and faded out. I noticed you putting added creases in other paintings - doesn't distract me - seems like a signature style for you. Something odd within something so perfect. |

Great use of a wide range of values...& that apple is rendered especially well. Have to go try out those Grey Prismacolors myself! -Alfredo Gomez Jr. www.Alfredogomezjr.com |

| This is a great drawing. The bag, in particular, is very well done. All those creases, and shadows and highlights are done so well. Gene |

| Just plain wonderful as I see it. Bet the original looks even better. If I was to make any change at all, and that's a big if, I would slide all the objects about a tad to the right. |
