Hi all.....
I thought I was done stippling for a while.....but then I found out that this year is my grandparents' 50th anniversary. I had an old picture of them from when they were dating (back in the 40's) and decided to reproduce it as a surprise for them. Their anniversary is about a week away..... and I wanted to post this and get any comments or suggestions for improvements before I have it framed. Thanks

Thanks Charlie
I don't post very often.....I have two small children to keep up with and very little time to actually sit down and work. My stippling projects are few and far between. I've done three large pictures in the last 2 years.....each one averaging 4 months. Now that this one is finshed, I've started a colored pencil project......and I've bought a watercolor block so I can try some quick paintings. After months of staring at a black & white picture.....my mind is screaming for color!!!

| Hi, I love everything about this piece. The only suggestion I might add, although it may be in there--but I can't see it b/c of the reproduction quality, is highlights to the woman's eyes. Otherwise--FANTASTIC! --margaret |

This beautiful drawing is! The technique this very well... but what I like more is the feeling than it transmits... really seem two enamored people. |

Thanks so much Margaret. There is a little detail in her eyes....but it doesn't show up at all in my photo.
Otiredroc.....Thank you for the great compliments. High praise coming from one as talented as yourself

FAntastic Job Jess. I can recognize the styles of 40s in them. Also the moods of them. We can read their minds in this image. YOur GD is excited and GM is giving sufficient reaction for his excitement. A perfect gift. Love to see more. |

Thanks Kim! I gave the framed picture to them yesterday and they loved it! Especially my grandfather He just kept looking at it and said....."And look, I had lotsa hair then!!" In all my 32 years, I have never seen my grandfather with hair. So it was fun to work on this picture and see how handsome he was (with it). It's funny.....he looks EXACTLY the same today sans the hair on top

Jess, I'm not one bit surprised at the reaction. I can hear the excitement as you tell about it. It must have been a Kodak moment - how sweet. Thanks for letting us know. |

| Well done! Fantastic control and good depth. I think many artists would be tempted to darken this work. I like it the way it is. |
