Some more animal studies that were done last years during a visit too Estes State Park Colorado in the Rocky Mountains.  Found it difficult adjusting to the higher altitudes but all in all it was a very beautiful day.  Sorry for not imbedding the images in this post, but it’s much easier to provide a hyperlink to my website. Enjoy the sketches.

That's no crane. I believe that's a great blue heron - a very magnificently drawn one at that.

I envy your ability to sketch animals from life.

Thanks Larimar.  There are several of these birds around here thus wasn't sure if its was a crane or heron.  I use photos and on-site life studies together.  I've sketched birds ever since I was a young boy living in mid-west.  It's quite enjoyable past time.

karilynn & klippie, thank you for the compliments.  love living in alaska.  there are moments with wildlife but nothing like we expect at times.  this past august we've had some problem bears on our hill. a black bear actually open our car door and took our dog treats leaving a wet stain in the back seat.  our neighbor's vehicle didn't fair as well as the bear broke out their passenger window to get at some can salmon.  may have to get a car alarm just for the bears.
