Hi........This is the picture I wanted to submit for the 'paint-off'. But if I can't figure out how to down size it this is where it will stay. My explaination for the picture is on the paint off site..........nope!!!! won't accept it here either. Don't understand, all other pictures were accepted, and they are all the same size.  Has something changed on this site, or was I just lucky with the others?

Hey Myrn! I was looking forward to seeing your drawing so I hope I can help you get it posted.

Here's a link to a search on Google.com for free or online photo resizers if you don't have some sort of graphics program:

http://www.google.com/search?q=free+photo+resizers&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

(Just highlight the url, copy it & paste it into your browser window.)

If you already have a graphics program of some sort, here are a few tips for getting the right size for forums such as this:

1. Resize your graphic/photo so that it's 600 pixels or less on the longest side. If you go much larger, dial-up users will time out before it's fully visible.

2. Use 72 dpi as anything larger is generally useless when posted to the web and just adds to the file size

3. Compress and save as a jpg (unless you have transparent areas then save as a gif or png)! This is one of the biggest factors in file size! Compression will be different in different software but a general rule of thumb is to use medium compression for artwork. If your software will show it, experiment with different compression values and use the lowest number that still shows your art as intended.

I do a lot of graphic work and will help you all I can to get your work resized and posted so everyone can see it. If there's anything you don't understand or need help doing, just holler! If you would like for me to resize your drawing for you, just email it to me by using the email function in my profile.

I mis-spoke in the post above - I intended to say that you should compress as much as possible (usually a higher number) with the art still looking good. There's a balance between the file size and the quality of your work and you just have to experiment to find it.

And I think you found it with the peony you posted in the flower power thread! It's beautiful!

Here's my peony framed.  Think I'll call her 'Round Peg in a Square Hole'. Salvaged some of the white from my spray disaster with a white pastel stick.
