I just got a copy of CS3 off of ebay. Its an actual copy, a homemade copy. I didn't realize this when I bought it. So it doesn't have any instructions, no serial number, just a disk with CS3 written in permanent marker. Should I keep it and try to work with it or try and get a refund? I have never used photo shop before. I just need a program to adjust photos before I paint them. Any suggestions? I'm completly lost.

Maybe I can help you with this, since I'm a grahphic designer by day. Hope you didn't pay too much for it! I would definitely try to get your money back. The program will only work for 30 days as a trial without a serial number, if the disk works at all. CS3 is more than you need if you just need a simple photo editing program. Adobe also makes a program called Photoshop Elements, which is like a lite version of photoshop. I haven't used it myself, since I've always had the full version of photoshop, but reading the description and reviews of it, it sounds like it'll meet your needs. Adobe's website allows you to download a trial to try out to see if its what you need. Adobe has it as $99. I saw that amazon.com had it for $20 less on their site, plus a $20 rebate. I know there are other programs out there also, but I've always used photoshop, since I use other adobe programs also. Hope this helps, good luck. |

I saw the elements program on amazon as well. I went for the cs3 because it was $100. Who could pass up a deal like that? I contacted the seller through e-mail and she said it can't be returned. I sent e-mails before buying it on ebay asking if it had the serial number and instructions and she told me it did. After I asked to return the software(without serial number or instructions, just a copy disk in a bag) she sent me a serial number that was already used. I have e-mails tracing the entire sell through ebay so I'm going to report it to ebay and Adobe. I may not get my money back but she won't be selling anymore bad software to anyone else.

I have both Elements and the CS3 Design Premium package from Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, Flash, and PDF. I have taken several on-line classes at my local community college. These classes are an excellent way to learn the various digital art software. One way to learn is to join Lynda.com ($25.00 per month will give you access to all programs with short informative videos on Photoshop and everything else). Also go to Photoshop Cafe on line. There are so many free tutorials on the net pertaining to Adobe products. Digital art does not replace traditional art, but it is a great way to scan your digital picture of your art and perserve your creations. Also check out National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) on line. Also Photoshop Elements has an on-line site. There is a magazine and tutorials.

Thanks so much everyone! After about two months of waiting for the e-bay and paypal complaints to be processed I did get my money back! Yay! I now own Photoshop Elements 6. It has everything I need on it and more. I bought a book on Elements 6 and have been going through it to learn the program. So far so good. And thanks for all the info Obachan! I'll have to check those out!

Bright eyes, I have been using a computer since 1987. for the first year i put in a minimum of sixteen hours a day learning everything that I could. I stated with Picture Publisher back then and I loved it, well ther wasn't much else on the market then. I still use the program as it does all that I need it to do. But then I worked with a 320x200 resolution and it took an hour to to create a gradient from blue to white. I udo almost everything by scratch, that is I colr the object and so on using a mouse. Now it is a lot easir to use a mouse than before. As soon as I get straightened out I will post some of my work. I paint in watercolors, pastel, oils and gauche. Sometimes I paint a scene but with no back ground. I scan it and use the paint program to visualize different colors etc. Which allows my imagination to start working! Another thing is the colors always lookk better or more calbrated on the screen as well as paper. Oh yes, The latest version is version 10, for $29.00 I still use version 8 but would like to try 10. I used Adobe and Corel but I still fall back on Picture Publisher.
