What program(s) do you use? I'm a graphic designer by trade, and use photoshop alot. I think what you've done has made a lovely rendition from the photograph. Her mother should be pleased. The only 2 things I see that you might want to change is the arm holding the flowers has changed shape a little and looks a little cut off at the elbow and fingers. Plus the focus of her eyes looks a little different, like she's looking away, rather than at the viewer. I agree with your editing out of the little blue book and necklace, makes it less busy, so you can focus on her face. The color and background are great. Nice job.
