Where's the Landscape? There is no picture or is it my computer? Would love to see it...

Sorry Nina, no its me I couldnt get the img tags to work for some reason, I made a few attempts last night and gave up as it was getting late. So heres a direct link to a snapshot I took while it sat on my easel. I spent most of my efforts on the water reflections and waves but i think I perhaps got in over my head

Heres a zoom in to get a bit more detail:

Guess you could call it a land and sea scape

you could contact the administrator to help with posting your picture. Are you resizing it correctly? Under a 100 kb and 72 resolution or you won't be able to post...

Thanks Jim , I guess by "value changes" you mean the constant use of nearly the same shade of blue in the lake ? Im still struggling with the lingo.

Hi, not bad for your second try. I'm new to acrylics too and I'm really enjoying it. As objects recede into the background their color loses brightness and sort of blends in with the color of the background, so when the color in the foreground is more defined and gets lighter and less distinct as it moves into the background, the painting will have more depth. That's something that I need to work on in my paintings.

welcome aboard, Lawrence. Glad to see you got your picture posted. Yes it has a serene quality but it will have more interest with more values ( light and dark of same color) If you had painted the tree with a dark green then you could come back and add lighter green highlights wherever the light is hitting the tree and so on. Look forward to seeing more of your work. We are all constantly learning, I think...

Value is the relative lightness or darkness of a color. If you look at a mountain range, as the mountains recede into the distance the colors become lighter. You have a terrific reflection in the foreground.

Here are three landscapes that I completed in September.  Two were done at Watauga Lake in Tennessee and the third was done from a photo I took at Chicago Botannical Gardens.  I think I've made a lot of progress, particularly in the area of composition, this year but know that I have a long way to go.  Its is so hard to see your own work.  I would appreciate any help.  Thanks.
