This is a painting that I did for a miniature show.  The size is 8 x 10" on masonite.

That is so beautiful!  It feels like I could just ruffle the feathers!

Wow - really beautiful - the feathers are so well done. How long did it take you to do?

This is gorgeous!
I'm assuming that the smoothness of the masonite helps with the soft details?
Very nice work!

Wow, this is beautiful. Great detail and mood, I feel you capture the emotion of the Swan.

Thanks very much for stopping by to look and comment. I appreciate it.
Maggie - I worked off and on, but if I had done it all in one sitting, I'd say it took about 8 hours.
Mike - yes, the masonite is very smooth and helps when trying to apply thin, subtle glazes of colour (many used on this particular painting).

Thanks Paula, Retha, JM
As far as I know they are called Mute Swans because they are much less vocal than other types of swans. I know the Trumpeter Swans for instance, are very vocal (sounds like the horn section of a band warming up). The Mutes aren't actually mute, but can be quite aggressive and will often hiss at other birds (or humans who get too close for comfort).
