Hi all, This is a painting by Hal who is still having a probem loading his paintings on here. It's a Datsun 280 Z 14 X 18. Let him know what you think. Thanks for Hal, Jim

Well, please remember that this is just my opinion... Cons: For me there is just tooooo much red. The perspective is a little skewed, the horizon line is higher on the right side of the car and the elipses are not quite right. Also, the reflections, highlights and shadows in the car are flat... Pros: The reflection in the floor is good. The color of the floor is nice and the detail of the front wheel is well done.
That said, automobiles are very, very hard to do! I have a good friend back in Colorado that focuses on automotive art and he once told me that "the elipses and lines are the important part of the vehicle, you get those right and the rest is easy!" I have not done well with them and it frustrates me to no end. It seems like just one body line can be off just a little bit and the whole thing looks wrong. the reflections are what seem to make the car pop and look real...that is hard to do! Mike |

| Hey Mike: thanks for the critique. however, the colors on this posting are not as true as they should be, and that red background gets a WoW, from everyone who saw it. also, I agree with you about the perspective and a few other things, but it is true to the only reference that I was given by the friend who asked me to paint it. I'll try to post the original here, but if it dosen't show up, I'll try to post it on separately. By the way, the fellow that asked me to do it, loved it. |

In the end, all that really matters is if the client is happy with it. Congats on making him happy!!! Mike |

Thanks, Hal, I stand on my opinion...I respect your efforts on this and my opinion is not any more valuable than anyone elses. It's just an opinion. Mike |
