good evening peepers! this is the beginning stage of my second commission for the same customer....an beautiful bobcat...

its a very rough preliminary study, i have used ~general's sketch and wash~ to work in some of the dark side on the right, just works quicker than working it all in graphite, and since its just rough it works just fine for getting the feel of it.....that side will fade into the black of the tshirt....so not much detail will show on that side.....but this is step one...

Beautiful! You are an excellent drawer. And you've captured the values so well. I can't wait to see this in color. Did you start this right on the fabric?

Beautiful drawing! I, too, look forward to seeing subsequent steps. Might I suggest that you post them on this same thread, so we can view the progress in one place. That way we'll end up with a little demo.

hi michele,arl,holly

if you look back to another ~new fabric painting, wolf~

you can also see stages of doing a fabric painting/tshirt

michele, this bobcat sketch posted above was done on paper, usually i do a few preliminary drawings to set in my mind what i need to pay close attention to, for anatomy and specific likeness points i need to get down so it will be that particular animal.....

after i normally do a few sketches, then i direct sketch onto the fabric, because i love using black, i have to sketch with white charcoal, which easily is removed in the wash if i have parts i dont paint on....the paint adheres no problem right over the charcoal....on white shirts i might use a 2b, but very sparingly, if i use a very light hand, the graphite comes right off in the wash...

this update is now on the black tshirt, because i am using a lot of the black bg into my design, the sketch might look a bit odd right now.....lol...

next update, will be first session of paint, i had paint my shirts so no airbrush used.....eventually i might initiate using a bit of airbrush work but i dont right now....all paint is carefully applied with a small brush.

evening!.. just finished getting my tree and decorations up, and thought i would dash in with this mornings update.....

i wanted to make sure that i had his eyes about right before continuing on, so i worked on his eyes first, i will tweak them a bit still tomorrow, but hopefully i can finish him tomorrow with his bit of rusts and varying greys and the beautiful patterns in his fur.....
