| From a moment just before dark not long ago... I came around the side
of the barn to the rear and you know that feeling you get when
something's out of place or you think soeone's watching? I stopped dead
in my tracks and slowly looked over toward the bunk house. At the same
time he raised his head and there we were, face-to-face, staring at
each other, maybe twenty-five feet apart. 11x14" acrylic on canvas. |

This is great. From a distance, it looks like an ink wash painting. Well done

Naw, but wish I had! Butta deer just don't
wander up that close to the house so it was least expected. After
standing there for a bit he went back to muching the mulberries on the
ground and I thought I'd back-trackmy steps to get one. No dice. As
soon as I moved he took a quick jump forward, reeled, and was off
across the field. Whenever I can, I paint from real life. This was
painted from a trophy mount of a deer roughly the same age as the one I
saw. Thank you Sheila, Arlene, Sandeep, River, Jess, and Sue for the
compliments. |

Great deer. Yes, getting that close is hard. I tried to take a picture of a deer up our hill and as I moved up the hill, he spotted me so I got him with fence because I was taking pictures as I walked up the hill.
