FISH!!!!
I LOVE DISCUS FISH!!!!
I raised them for a while. Very difficult to keep. Didn't have a large enough tank for them.
Related to the freshwater angelfish which I raise now (two broods so far)
Nice Koi Anglerfish btw...I currently have 3 tanks going
A 45 gallon has an assortment of Platinum Blonds, Vail Silver Ghost, and Zebra Vail's
Recently purchase two Black Lace and Marbled Pearl Skins for the 25 gallon tank.
The black lace look to be Male and female, so in another 7 months when their old enough, I'll place them in a tank together alone and see what happens.
I have a 20 gallon planted tank for a few smaller fish like black tetra's, neon tetra's, Serpae Tetra and 3 dwarf flame gouramis.

The last fish in the group looks like a member of the cichlid family of fresh water fish...to which both angelfish and discus fish belong to also.
All are very nicely painting.

morning peeps!!!...thank y'all for the positive comments! muchly appreciated!

i just finished another discus so i am popping it in...most likely i will work on another koi angel next....

jm!....greetings to ya! i always love talking fish!

we keep and breed african cichlids of all kinds, from the three lakes regions...

the last fish was a tropheou moori,ilangi....there are so many color morphs of this family its amazing...the ilangi is just one, because i normally paint on black tshirts, cause i adore the contrasts i can get, its hard to paint this particular family cause they normally have a lot of black in their patterns, the ilangi is one of the acceptions...they are great fish but we dont keep em anymore cause of the problem that you have to have breeding groups of usually no less than say ten....or the aggression is vicious...

our largest tank right now is an old 135, most of the tanks are 55's,40's and a few 20's....hubby cuts down a bit in the cold months because up here ya cant run em without having heaters on constantly and its brutal on the electric bill! so i would say he is down to about twelve tanks right now...

sounds like ya have fabulous angels! keep peeking in cause chances are i am going to try to get a marble one done before wednesday, the day i need this lot of shirts ready to be taken to the big aca convention in ohio!.

Beautiful work. I've never seen anything like that on T-shirts. Do you use airbrush at all? We have a single Beta Fighting Fish, which is very colorful also.

hiya! nopers right now i am not airbrushing....just plain ole paint brush and totally hand painted..which i really have to admit is not easy and takes time, which is both difficult because this is acrylics....bleck...

beta's are definetly another fish that is popular and one i will be doing...~wink~...
i received word that three out of the five shirts have sold as of five this evening...with tonite and another full day to go tomorrow..hopefully all five will sell....but the pressure is on right now to hurry and complete as many as i can for wednesday mornings drop off date! eeeks!

Beautiful! Illuminating colors. You inspire me to continue with acrylic to try to get the bright colors - I'm finding that the colors come out flat a lot.

oh i do love acrylics, but they just eh....frustrate me!..they dry far to fast and fail to feed my need for glazing....i love thin luminous layers of paint, so when i wish to paint that way i use oils on canvas....but all my tshirts are acrylics....now if i could figure out a way to paint with oils on shirts...lolol..i would be thrilled!...

i just finished six more shirts...but nearly all are repeat designs, although each shirt is one of a kind really, cause i change up the patterns a lil bit just like real fish....i did add another tropheus duboisi....but i dont want to take up more space here, so if ya really want to see more of my fish just pop over to the tshirt area in my website..~wink~...

acrylic colors are a bit pure out of the tube, but so too are many oils michele, thats when ya find out which lil additions will make them a bit more realistic, if thats what you wish for!....
naples yellow is a fabulous color, and working with grey values, then adding in a color to that mix, will calm things down a bit for ya..~wink~

thanks jess! hiya kiddo!   both shows went well, and out of ten shirts, nine sold...one was rather large and there werent any takers that large...but the other shirts sold on the first day of each of the convention days....so a very good thing, and i also have a few commissions that came through looking for more....

these two were two more designs that i did, tropheus duboisi, on the blue shirt, and a black and white koi is a new addition.

thanks for peeking....

have a wonderful thanksgiving, dont work to hard, dont eat too much, but do enjoy your loved ones!

Happy Thanksgiving OWS! Congrats on the show and the commissions! I'm putting my work out for public viewing next week! Our town hall is hosting a two month art exhibit starting next weekend. I really like the two fish shirts you just posted. The different angles in which you chose to paint them, really gives them more dimension and seem more lifelike. Nice work!!

Love the new fish paintings...you should start doing these on canvas!!!!

I've been trying to correctly photograph my Neon's and Cory's for you...but darn, I just can't get the little bugger's to sit still!!!!

I have some great pics of my current Angels and the Discus I used to have, could you use any of those?
How about Clown Loaches??? Mine aren't big yet, maybe about 4 inches long.
I also have some Dwarf Flame Gouramis and Serpae Fan Tail Tetra's that I could try photographing.

u was actually thinking of starting them on small canvas, to add to this fish theme, cause the fish clubs seem to be avidly buying em up when i get enough to send off to them.....

definetly can use all the photos ya can send me...~wink~....
ya can send them to my bal@bettyannlemist.com
i usually try to keep it pretty clean so that friends who do send me references dont have a problem!...

so anything ya got just ship em on over! and i thank you kindly in advance!

i am working on a wolf right now....i will post a new thread cause its not a fish...LOLOL....
and i havent started the shirt yet...i had to do a couple of preliminary sketches so i could set it in my mind before i begin......

" Use any surface that you would use for oil paint. However, make certain to prime with an acrylic gesso. A rabbit skin glue sizing is not satisfactory.

Do not use any unprimed or porous surface."
