Ah yes, much better. Not quite sure of your shading patterns.
Did you do this from a photograph? The hair looks fine, the face
a bit mottled.

I am starting to think maybe i will change the settings on the camera because it makes the painting look extremely harsh, it actually looks more smooth on the original painting.
But, I will admit that I do tend to paint a little bold at times with the way I shade some areas.
I cant thank all of you enough though for your comments, this is the first bit of feedback on my work besides family and friends, Thank you!!!!!! I really like this site.

A beautiful subject - i would suggest softening the edges of the shadows on the face by using a middle tone between the light and the dark and blending to get the smooth skin. Bold is good, that is what makes a painting pop, bold values! The neck and collarbone are just fine, hair is lovely, just needs a little tweaking to smooth out her face to get the look of youth.

Thank you for your feedback heather, and your right, I do need to bring her face down a bit to a smooth youth look.
And yes, she is a beautiful subject, she is my niece.
Thanks so much heather,

Dianne

Dianne,

I really like the way you have done the hair in this painting. The only part that I'm not sure about is the dark line between the bridge of her nose and her left eye. Maybe you cold widen this shadow a bit, and smooth it out some. Apart from that, I think this is a very nice painting.

God bless,
D.J.

Dear Sue, you are so kind, thank you so much!!!

DJ, your comments make sense about the shading near her left eye, I have worked on that, and it looks better. As for the hair, I have never been able to paint hair the way I would like too, so I thank you for that comment.
The hair in your work is absolutely amazing!!!

Thanks so much, feedback is so very important!!!
