Hello. This is my first post, I am new to taking a look at these forums. I have been painting about four years and am fortunate to be in a gallery on Main Street in Scottsdale, AZ. I love to paint landscapes, seascapes, and wildlife. I stive to capture the beauty all around us that God created. I hope to evoke emotion and a connection with the viewer. I have just completed a new painting entitled First Bloom. This was painted from photos I took the morning after a party at the home of some great friends. This is a view of Four Peaks from North East Scottsdale. I can only imagine waking up to that view each day! I hope you enjoy it! Lucy

Yes and thank you! I have always been artistic and the daughter or an artist who paints watercolor. Years ago I used to do a lot of pencil sketching and charcoal. I had to put it aside with young kids and growing a family business. About four years ago I decided to try painting with acrylic. I am self taught with the help of books, videos, and a couple of workshops. I was quite surprised to see what I could do. I know there is so much more to learn but believe I have found my calling! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I will add others soon.

Sometimes I think being self taught is the way to go. You can discover things that
you normally wouldn't do because "it's just not done that way." The freedom to pick
and choose how you want to represent something is unique to everyone anyway. This is
beautiful work and it's nice to see your representation of the photos you took.

Hi Lucy,
This painting is gorgeous. I like your rendition of the Ocotillo (natures fence).

Thanks again. I have to say as posting is a new expirience for me, I very much appreciate the feedback. You know how you can get about your own work sometimes, over critical!

Your painting is beautiful.  You have captured the beauty of the area so well and the distant mountains are so very real.  The distance of things can be so deceiving in the desert since the air is so dry and clear.  Beautiful rendition.  Hard to believe that you have only been painting for such a short time.

Hi Lucy
Wonderful painting. Capturing the beauty of nature and its related emotions is very challenging. One must be really one with nature to to do that. Look forward to see more of your work.
