I lived in a condo in Maplewood, NJ high on the top of a hill with an east exposure and had a wonderful view of the twin towers while they were still standing.  They were especially beautiful in the evening when the sun was setting.  The shimmered in the yellow light of evening.  So I painted this impression of how they looked, mostly from memory and with an old photo as somewhat of a reference which I only adhered to very loosely.  Would love some comments of my rendition in acrylics.  Painted on a 10 x 30 canvas. The canvas was textured before the painting was done to add to the shimmering effect.

Since you're from NJ, I gather that you're looking from the west and that black mass in the foreground is a group of trees blocking the Hudson.

Based on your colors and lighting, I gather that the sun is setting and the towers are reflecting the sun.

That's a good rendering of southern Manhattan at that time of day.

I think your picture might improve if you toned down the background a bit. The East river seems too blue and intense and could be toned down. The pink slice that is Brooklyn also seems intense and might recede if you greyed it down a bit.

But- here's the $64,000 question - What happened to the Brooklyn Bridge?

Did someone finally buy it?

Hi and thanks for the comments.  I didn't try to depict everything that was really there.  I only wanted to create an impression of the view with the shimmering effect of the sunlight.  I lived at The Top in Maplewood, NJ and my appartment faced the east.  We were not on top of Manhatten but close enough to have a beautiful view.  The foreground was composed of lots of trees that blocked my view and I made it dark to contrast the brightness of the sunset on NY.  This paint was mostly out of my mind.  Thanks for viewing and commenting.
