This is my latest acrylic work. 20 X 24 on gallery wrapped canvas. Please let me know what you think and whether it needs improving anywhere. I am not happy with the flowers and am reworking them. I am not sure if this piecs has enough balance.

I like this one alot. It does seem like it's just waiting for something to show up in the field on the right side though. Bigger closer sheep? Jim

This is a very well painted painting, composition wise. I would just have repeated some lights of the sky in the foreground, Just my opinion.
Love it.

Love the path and the flowers! Is the barn tilted? It almost looks like it is leaning back. The other side of the painting does seem a little unbalenced.....maybe if the mountain peak were on THAT side instead of right next to the barn? It seems like all your focal points are on that one side of the painting. All that said....your detail work is really fantastic. I love the colors in the fence and path and barn.....and those trees next to the barn are incredible.

When I look at the painting my eye goes immediately to the metal gate on the fence. Or maybe it's a wooden fence, but to me it is painted way too light to go with the rest of the fence. If it were my painting, I would darken it to make it look like wood. (Even though it is probably metal in real life, I would change it for artistic purposes.) Also, if I were you I would soften the mountain peaks a bit to blend in with the sky's atmosphere. Also, on the shadow side of the barn, I think your shadow would run all the way across that side of the barn, wouldn't it? Judging from the placement of the light where you have it on the broad side of the barn, I don't think you would have any bright light on the other side of the barn and the little addition just to the right of the barn, would you? Just a few ideas that hit me when I first looked at the painting. I really like the way you handled the fence posts and the fence itself........Thanks for sharing..........Gene

The painting is very pretty and restful, but something about the prospective of the barn disturbs me. I also think that the painting should have more contrast in the foreground and barn since they are closest. The fall away in the shadows. eyecandy |

I couldnt give you any suggestions for this piece because I absolutely love it the way it is, my very first thought when I viewed it was a perfect place to live. It is so dreamy but yet there is something so real about it. I love how it makes me feel, so at peace. Love the colours, especially love the way the gate is open and so welcoming, like as if I am finally home! I would hang this piece in my studio for the feeling it gives me. I love your vision.

I have made some changes and would like some feedback. Is this piece worthy of entering in competition and what style would you say this is?

Hi Sue,
I like the addition of the sheep and I like the addition of more grass and flowers to the corner. Beautiful rural landscape

Sue, I like the way you fixed the shadow on the side of the barn. And adding those sheep up a little closer lets us know that the back group are sheep also. It looks like you added a bit more highlight on the fence posts also. It's a very nice painting..........Thanks for sharing..............Gene
