I looked at all the photo references and different angles I took of the rudder, all on the same day at the same time, the rudder's shadow simply is not there!
I know I chose this image because I remember I kept going back for the sunlight to hit that rudder just right
If you follow the shadow of the prop on it's support beam, you'll see that there is an extreme angel to it.
If you follow those lines and apply them to the rudder, the shadow of the rudder itself disappears into it's support and the lower shadow that is on the grass below it.
There is a shadow on the prop from the rudder it's self, but only a very thin cast of it on the lower edge of the prop.
Given the shapes and angles on this old boat it's hard to say for sure.
I know it was late in the day when the shadows are elongated, which explains the shadow from a near by wood pile that is also seen on the grass, the wood pile it self is out of frame and not seen.

Wow wonderful piece. Congratulations on your award. I am sure you will soon have many more. I have had some good fortune lately. I have turned to a more contemporary approach this year and for some reason people are responding. It looks like you have found your niche.

Hi Harvey...I think directions for posting are found in one of the directions from the Administrators threads (main page)...nobody votes on this forum except in the Administrator led contests which you'll also see a specific thread for. I think the award talked about on this thread was local to the artist.

Welcome...and be sure and post something...everyone just gives ideas and encouragement when asked for by the artist.
