These are well done. One thing you could do, is paint the background white again and do a thin glaze of red so the light shows through, and if you didn't want it so bright a red, tone it down with raw sienna (burnt umber will brown it too much) or a little blue. Do the glazing very thin like a watercolor wash using transparent colors and liquin medium or other clear medium you like. Ust one suggestion, I am sure others with have more.

Thanks Heather, How do you do a thin glaze of red so the light shows through? I've never seen liquin medium or other clear medium. I guess I missed that at Hobby Lobby. I have too much to learn! |

I quite like the red one. The yellow (top) one is maybe too bright or too green?

Hi sheila, I really like these paintings. I really enjoy your use of colour and I think that they will look fabulous hung together! I quite like the red backgroud with the red pear. If you want the pear to stand out more perhaps you could brighten the highlights (like you did for the green pear).

Hyplar acrylics made by Grumbacher has a clear gel that you can use for transparent glaze (have to use transluscent red not opaque), also above suggestions, by Raechel, of more highlights on red pear could work too.

Very nice. You picked up on Heathers suggestions well. I've never used glazes myself either. Jim

Very nicely done. Now it looks rich and stands out from the background. One thing I have noticed, there is no reflected light at the bottom of the pears, to separate them from the shadow cast on the table.

This last posting of the red pear is very nicely done. It's good to take Heather's suggestions. She really knows what she is talking about, I think. Thanks for showing these. Gene
