does anyone use a blog to market? i've just started one, and find it really helpful in terms of thinking about my art every day and articulating what i'm doing & how i feel about it. seems like it should be a great way to connect with people too, but i'm not sure how exectly to go about that. i do have a link from my website....and here's the blog address-

I'm not sure if this will help you any, but I too have recently started blogging. I think it's all about networking. If someone sees your blog, likes it and can relate to it, they may feel a deeper connection with you and subsequently your art. Art is ultimately about striking an emotion, whether in the creating or the viewing. I'm hoping that it will be a useful (and free) marketing tool, as I’m sure you are!

BTW, great blog and websites! I will definitely check back to see what you are working on! With a 6mo at home, my goal is 1-2 blogs a week fir now. Check it out if you get the chance. Thanks fir the forum!

I started a Blog myself a few weeks ago for my "Portfolio" No inquiries yet but the word is getting out there. An traffic is increasing. I'm too lazy to write articles so I'm just posting my paintings with little blurbs. Maybe I'm being to "commercial" by having ads too.

Blogs are a terrific tool for artists. They allow one to showcase images, create a personality arouond themselves, carry on a dialogue with collectors and other artists, are inexpensive to free to maintain, easily updated and easy to market. To help artists with suggestions on topics, I had a post on my Art Print Issues blog last year titled, A Year of Blog Topics, No Reason to Hold Back Now.  The post contains a link to another post with more thoughts about blogging for artists.

If Barney says "Do it" - do it - you can't go wrong. He is the best, most knowledgeable, art blogger on the net.

I love reading other artists blogs, and it makes me feel more of a connection and interest in their projects and what they're doing. When you know "who" made something, it makes it all the more special i think. I've done both livejournal and blogspot, and love the 'decorative' aspect of it, and being able to share what inspires me and post new pieces and get reactions from others. It's definitely the new tool for artists, there's even an entire magazine now devoted to artists blogs (Artful Blogger) Doesnt hurt to give it a try!~
