Subject: What are the stars for ?

Maybe this is the wrong forum - but

What are the many stars for ? Are there any rules ??? ( sorry my bad English )

In some forums are so many stars - like on a nice summer night sky  

IMHO - everybody should be able to give only 1 (one) star per week   ( or day or what ever )

Also - everybody should be able to remove one star in this periode  

How does this system work ?

 If  I want to support a good friend- I can donate him 5 stars - quality , does not matter ? 

 One star is for me something special - but 4 or 5 stars

If I am wrong please explain me

Sorry you had to wait so long for an answer to your question. The stars are a rating system for particular threads. Click on a star to let others know a thread is useful or enjoyable. That's the only guideline we use. If you find a thread useful and want to click on a star, feel free to do so.

Sorry in Europe 5 Stars are given for highest quality only

If I do criticise a  high star ranked picture - I am  offending maybe the conferrer of the stars -

the only way to avoid this is ......no critics , no comment  =  no troubles

As long as your criticism is constructive and friendly, you may feel free to give your opinion. Sometimes it helps to first compliment something about the painting and then suggest an area of improvement. The painters who post on this forum are working from all levels of experience and expertise. Those who have been on the forum for a while begin to see how individual painters develop and improve. This forum is a friendly, non-threatening place, but it's also a place to learn and grow. That can only happen with sincere, constructive criticism.
