Is there a website or program out there where I can get generic realease forms or at least a template for them? You know, release forms for rights to publish or like when you photograph a person or property to use in a painting. Those type of forms.

Thank You!

Mike

Hey Mike, I found the book "Taking The Leap" really helpful in organizing my thoughts and portfolios and such and a great pep talk, also, "How To Sell Your Art Without Selling Your Soul" was a ton if info! I think they put out new updated issues of it every year.
Hope that helps

Thanks D,
I wasn't sure if anyone on here was going to help on this!
I was aware of "Taking the leap" but I haven't read it yet and the other one is new to me...
Anymore, it seems like we have to protect ourselves at every corner. Most people are good people, but every now and then you run into the one that wants everything for free or will sue just to sue!

Mike,

I purchased a book a few years ago called Legal Guide for the Visual Artist by Tad Crawford.  Mine is the fourth edition (2001) and I don't know if it has been updated since then.  It is geared towards fine artists, illustrators, computer artists, graphic designers and photographers.

Anyway, I pulled it out to see if this might be of help, and I think it may.  When I went to the index to look up forms, I counted 48.  Besides an Artist-Agent Agreement, there is an Assignment Form - Photographer's Model, Copyright Assignment Form, Bill of Sale, Invoice, Permission and Print Contract with Gallery to name a few.  Besides the forms, this is a great book.  I have referred to it several times.  Tad Crawford is an attorney, author and prominent advocate for artists' rights.  I was also surprised to find that it is not too difficult to understand.  It's great for artists either starting out or mature in their career.

I hope this helps,

Kim

Thanks, Kim! I'll look at all of these books...I'm happy to see that the one you suggested actually has drafts of the forms!!!
