Greetings,
Yesterday I finally completed upgrading my website. I decided to use flash but I was concerned that many folks may not have the proper version of Flash to view the site. I published using an older version of flash but I think some people may still have problems. Please try to access the site and tell me if you can access the individual galleries:

If I continue to have issues with this I may have to modify or republish the flash with a newer vesion. I hope not. Thank you
Vic

| Most discussions on optimizing your website for search by Google and other engines advise against using any version of Flash. In general Engines cannot analyse Flash web pages and tend to leave a website when reaching a Flash page. This means that your website will not appear for anyone doing a Google search. |

I agree with Peter about optimization. Further, with IE7, I didn't see any flash on your index page. My personal feelings are flash home pages are time wasters. You work hard to drive traffic to your site, if you put some off by making them wait for flash to load, or worse not work leaving them to wonder why they are sent to a static page.
BTW, the work is interesting, colorful and clean. Best of luck with it.

I also updated my website and used a Flash Based template. I'd be courious to know if visitors are having trouble viewing my website: http://www.newicons.com
By the way I did not see any Flash at http://www.viciniart.com but could view the site just fine.

Vic, It is a very nice site. I love your art, by the way. However, I didn't see any Flash on your site. All the links worked though and it was easy to navigate. I don't see any need for Flash on your site - it looks great as a static site. Very professional looking - clean and upscale. And I must agree that it does cause problems in site ranking and older browsers. Another thing to consider is that the more actual type you have on the page that discribes your site, the higher your ranking will be with the search engines. That is how the spiders find your site.
Alex, I did find that your Flash worked on my browser but I have Internet Explorer 7, so you need to keep checking with those with older browsers |
