After almost 20 years of teaching college classes, Kathrine Lemke Waste left academe to paint. While her degrees were in other subjects, the coursework always included art classes, starting at the Rhode Island School of Design in the early 1980s and ending with a 5-year apprenticeship with Salvatore Casa, a distinguished Northern California painter and winner of the American Watercolor Society's Gold Medal.

A signature member of American Women Artists and of the American Watercolor Society, Kathrine has been featured in numerous publications including Southwest Art, American Art Collector, and Sacramento Magazine.

Kathrine resides in Sacramento, CA where she continues to teach watercolor workshops at the Crocker Art Museum, Shriner's Hospital for Children and various Northern California locations.

After a nearly two decade hiatus from painting, Gilbert Amavisca has become one of the best and most prolific landscape painters in California.  Trained at Sacramento City College under Gregory Kondos, Fred Dalkey, Larry Weldon and Darryl Fornay and then at Brigham Young University where he received his Bachelor Of Arts in Fine Art, Gilbert was primed to begin a career in painting.

A full-time career in painting was put on break, when Gilbert turned his focus to raising a family and working with the City of Davis as an electrician.  However, Gilbert never lost his desire to make art.  During his hiatus, he began to participate in figure study classes and to experiment with the landscape.  “I find both areas interesting.” said Gilbert “I think I will continue with both for the remainder of my career.”

Gilbert resumed his art career in 1988, and since then produces between 80 and 120 paintings, participates in 5-6 art festivals in Northern California per year.

Gilbert continues to reside in California with his family.
