Hello.
I haven't been active for a while here but thought I would invite those of you in the UK or who may be visiting the UK to a two day/evening event in Chepstow in South Wales.
It's a Life and Burlesque Drawing Class on 22nd and 23rd October.
The Model will be Eliza C; a celebrated life model in London who is highly thought of in distinguished Art circles.
Eliza models at the Royal Academy Drawing School, the Hesketh Hubbard Group at the Mall Galleries; The Princes Drawing School and the London Sketch Club in Chelsea among others.
She also sits for Alan White and Dennis Gilbert. She also does fashion modelling. Not bad for a palaeoclimatolgist.
So this is a great chance to work with a renowned professional life model.
The sessions will be tutored if required by myself David Dent; though I am perhaps better known for my equine subjects! I also design Ladies Couture clothes and the burlesque theme will be styled by myself in addition to Eliza who has modelled for some top designer lingerie companies (see photo attached)
The event will be held at the Afon Gwy Hotel and Restaurant; a charming place on the very banks of the River Wye which the impressive Chepstow Castle overlooks. This is visible from the smoking patio of the establishment so it is a superb location.
The session on thursday 22nd will begin with a bucks fizz reception at 7pm. The class will begin with nude life drawing at 7.30pm then we will break for supper at 9pm. Resuming at 9.30pm, Eliza will then be dressed in burlesque attire (corsetry, tassles, seam and heel, furs etc) for another hour and a half session. The bar will then remain open for a little while for drinks.
The second day Friday 23rd will feature relaxed sessions of life and burlesque themed drawing with the option of location watercolour and sketch work of Chepstow castle which is less than 100 metres away.
Then in the evening we will have a repeat of the evening before with different poses and attire.
The evening sessions will be at £18 per person including supper and booking is essential.
Rooms are available at the hotel and B&B next door for around £70 per room per couple including breakfast if you book quickly on 07810407156 with me and I will make arrangements for you. This is also the number to book your place on both or one of the evening sessions. The daytime sessions will be extra depending on whether tuition is required or the length of time Eliza is required to model and for how many people.
Then...what a bonus! If anyone is interested in the Equine subject and fancies having a go at racechorses, some of the UK's top steeplechase horses and jockeys will be in action on the 24th at Chepstow Races, where my brother and I have a race day Art Gallery and can give you a glass of wine or two; a guided tour of the racecourse, and you can try your hand at sketching racehorses from life including in the pre parade boxes. Chepstow racecourse is also widely regarded as having the UK's most beautiful scenery.
If you wanted to make a weekend of it just up the road is the historic Tintern Abbey; another super subject for painting or visiting on the Sunday.
