| I would like to apply to a couple of large art fairs that will be held this summer and I have discovered that the best of these art faies are using a company called Zapp. Their instructions on submitting digital photos of our artwork is quite demanding in that The artwork must be submitted in a square 1920 x1920 pixels format with black bars taking up equal sides or the narrower sides of the painting and can be no larrger than 18 MBs. I have bought Adobe Workshop Elements 4 in order to do this as they recommended, but am not sure if the MAc version will do this for sure, (Apple couldn't help me), the one fair I want to try to apply for has a February 28 deadline for applications as most of these large fairs close applications early. (I have already passed 2 deadlines!) Has anyone any experience with setting up digital photos of their artwork who uses a Mac that can give me some timely advice, please?! |

I've done something similar in Photoshop in order to have slides made from digital images . Your proportions are different but the procedure should be the same. First make sure your image is max 1900 pixels. Open the image. Then open "new", go to image size and size it to 1900 x1900 pixels. Fill it in with black using the bucket tool. Then "select" your art image, then "copy", then click on the black square and "paste". It should automatically center. The other way is to, again, make sure your image size is no more than 1900 pixels either vertical or horizontal. Using the crop tool, pull the sides (or top) out equally to 1900 pixels, then crop and fill in with black. These procedures should work with Elements, MAC or PC shouldn't matter. Hopefully you can "View" rulers. |

P.S. I went to the ZAPP site out of curiousity. Their advice was much more detailed, and about the same. Their recommended size was 1.8 MB, not 18, by the way. All in all , holy mackeral... what a project!! |

| Thanks for the input. I discovered that a friend in California teaches Photoshop including Elements and between her and the Zapp instructions I finally figured it out!Am about to send in my second Zapplication.

| There must be a less expensive way of satisfying Zapp requirements. Has anyone found a solution without purchasing Photoshop software? |
