Submissions accepted for two- and three-dimensional work in all mediums
(i.e., paintings, sculpture, stained glass, jewelry, poetry, performance art, music, fashion). Submit your best work for this curator-juried show. Suggestions include magical:
Beings – Fantasy, sci-fi based, or religious icons, Gods and Goddesses, wizards and sorcerers, witches, fairies, goblins, trolls, elves, vampires, angels, mermaids/mermen.
Beasts – Dragons, gryphon, dragonflies, damselflies, fireflies, unicorns, snakes.
Tools, Icons and Symbols – Staffs, wands, masks, mirrors, tarot decks, crystal balls, timepieces, amulets and talismans. Celestial images, labyrinth, Tree of Life, Hebrew alphabet, Egyptian hieroglyphs, geometric symbols, mathematical symbols, religious, or secular symbols.
Places – Heaven and Hell, Tir Na N-Og, Valhalla, ancient ruins, castles.
Words and Music –Poetry or lyrics performed or woven into art. Musical compositions performed, or previously performed.

Submit up to three images of your work by photograph or email (with attached images less than 150 KB each) to: Sarah Pearson, Tribute to All Things Magical, 210 Laverne Avenue, Alexandria, VA ostalCode w:st="on">22305ostalCode>. Email is: sspearson@verizon.net. For poetry, prose, or performance, send in a copy of your work on paper, email, CD, DVD, or website.
NO JURY FEE, but if accepted there is an Entry Fee that must accompany each piece at drop off. Notification of work accepted/not accepted into the show will be sent by September 30, 2007 via email, or phone.

ê Art statement, 2-4 sentences describing: What makes this piece magical? What was your inspiration? Is it light or dark, or both? Educate us. Convince us. We’ll be using your description in the show.

ê Sales price. Art must be for sale.
Entry fee – For each accepted piece into the show, up to three pieces per artist, an entry fee will be collected during art drop-off. Cash accepted or checks written to Del Ray Artisans (DRA). Work must be dropped off personally, or by family or friend. Del Ray Artisans members and high school/college students will receive a discount on entry fee as seen below. Further discount may be available for assisting in curating, setting up/closing show, and sitting gallery (weekends only). Entry fee for each artwork priced as follows:
ê Under $50 is $5 Non-member $10 (Non-members may join DRA to receive immediate member discount.)
ê $51 - $250 is $10 Non-member $15
ê $251 - $500 is $15 Non-member $20
ê $501 and up is $25 Non-member $30
ê Poetry, prose, and performance entry fee is $10 (non-member $15). Scheduled by curators to share at opening.
Drop off accepted work at gallery on Sunday, October 7th, 4 - 8 PM and Tuesday, October 9th from 6 - 8 PM. Friends or family may deliver artwork if artist is unavailable. Entry fee must accompany your work. Two-dimensional art should be matted or stretched. If stretched, frame is preferred, but not mandatory. Installations larger than 4’ x 6’ may not be accommodated.
Attend the opening. Get creative–be magical! Dress in white or black to discern you as an artist.
Sales -- Curators will accept payment for work on artist’s behalf and hold it for artist up until end of show. It is the artist’s responsibility to contact curators by the end of the show to see if work is sold and to pick up art at the end of the show. Curators will assume your price reflects tax included. Finally, DRA requests a 20% contribution of work sold or commissioned from the show. We survive on charitable contributions and volunteer energy!
Pick up your artwork on Sunday, Oct 28th, 4 - 8 PM. Friends or family may pick up work if artist is unavailable.
Abandoned work -- DRA and curators are not responsible for artist’s work after October 28, 2007. If you sell a piece and the purchaser has not picked it up, it is still yours. Curators will not hunt down artists or purchasers to pick up work. Work not collected is in danger of being misplaced or damaged by incoming show.
DIRECTIONS -- From the South -- I-395 North to Glebe Road exit toward Alexandria. Glebe will fork at the second stoplight, stay to the right. Turn right on Mt. Vernon Avenue. It is a small white building with an outdoor pool, next to a school. From the North -- Take Route 1 South through Crystal City toward Alexandria. Right on Hume Ave. (There is a National Tire and Battery at this corner). Left on Mt. Vernon Ave, and we are on your right, small white building between the wading pool and elementary school.
