I've been trying to find a way to blend color pencil,(wax based), that will leave a smooth, seamless transition between colors. I've tried the colorless blenders, etc, etc, that are available but nothing meets my satisfaction. I've heard that mineral spirits or solvents work but don't they stain the work surface? I'm open for advice.

Hi Scott..
Solvents are the best way to seamlessly blend, keep your layers light pressure, and use solvent every 6 or 10 layers, as desired. no the artist solvents do not stain, I use an low toxicity one. head over to Wet Canvas for really great tips and help on CP. I have the same user name there if you want to touch base. There are tons of really great CP artists there. Colorpencilcentral is another fantastic resource...
