I thought that I posted this question, but I must have lost it in the  sending.

What is the correct way to attach a canvas oil painting that is on a wood frame to a picture frame?  I've seen staples, nails, brown U shape fasteners and L shaped.  I have painted on several 5 X 7 canvas.  The wood frame that they are stapled onto have very narrow wood frames and sometimes cause a problem in framing.  What is the professional way to frame?

I'm not anywhere near professional, and I don't know if this will help or not, but I paint oil on canvas using the Bob Ross wet-on-wet. And he sells clips to hold the canvas in the frame, I have not tried them yet but hope to soon. You can probably find them at bobross.com.

Use offset clips that come with the proper size screws. They come in several different sizes so measure how much above the frame that the painting sits and order those. Very easy!

Thanks BecArt.  I'll check out Bob Ross clips.  I have used his paints and like the smooth way they apply.  I've seem Bob Ross supplies at Hobby Lobby, but didn't notice clips.  Thanks.

Glad I could help. My mom is going to order some frames and clips sometime soon (whenever I order canvases)
so I'll let you know how they work when we get them.
