Hi everyone,

I need some advice on gluing linen to large (24x36 to30x40) panels. What kind of panel has worked for you? Birch and how thick, did you cradle it and with what? Masonite and how thick? What adhesive did you use? Did you seal the back?

I like a rigid support and I want to prevent warping in large panels any help from those of you that have been successful at this would be appreciated. Thanks. Bill

Companies that sell plastic products, sell a panel called ABS. It is a white sheet (1/8" thick for the purpose) that lends itself to mounting linen beautifully. Does not warp, rot, no cradling necessary, does not dog-ear, protects the back of the canvas. Needs dulling with a grit-sponge and the linen can be mounted with acrylic medium. No sealing of the back is necessary. Can be cut to size with a fine saw. Good luck!
