Think I'll try this one. Might change the perpective on the building. It's kind of acute.

Acrylic 8x 10" on palette paper...Found this one difficult. Changed some colors and moved the building in the rear...but, well, here's my submission for this week. Any comments more than welcome....

Nina - You did a great job with this one. I really like the added color and the moved rear building really works well for me. I may try this one but I think I will work more on the Oregon Coast first. I am beginning to get a large stack of "unfinisheds" that is bothering me.

Holland - Thanks. Keep on trucking-would like to see more of your work.

Kathy, thanks for liking it. I found this one hard too, but thought it was good to stretch myself as an artist.
I didn't like the drabness of the photo so i decided to liven it up a bit.

Where is everyone else's?

Nina - wonderful work. Love the added colors you did (I did also). The image just needed a bit of a boost in color. Suna - Very interesting drawing. How was this one done? Is it white drawn on the red/brown background? It makes this image almost abstract. Well, here is mine. Acrylic on 9x12 canvas sheet. I also added some color to the background like Nina, it just seemed to need it. And I chose to leave that one small building in the background out of the picture altogether. Glad I could get this one done and I'm closer now to being caught up. - Nan

Nina and Nan, both paintings are beautiful.
Nan, I used light grey pastel on reddish brown pastel paper. I found acrylics hard to use, but everybody else uses it perfectly Maybe I need to try it again. It dries very quickly, do you use it with a lot of water? I can't use it like oils. ---Suna.

Hi Suna - I also worked with oils, and when I started working with Acrylics, I expected them to behave the same. Defnitely not! I've been with acrylics now for over a year, and I've gotten much more comfortable with them. I still miss some of the things I did with oils (water reflections & using thicker paint), but I'm finding ways to do things differently. And there are mediums to add to the acrylics to make them thicker. One thing I did do is work acrylics on a much smaller canvas than I was use to (I'm gradually increasing in size), mostly because of the quick drying time. I also do more washes with water & light tints, something I couldn't do with oils. I like that acrylics are not as hazardous with chemicals as oils, and I'm learning to like the quick drying time (closest thing you can get to an "undo" is to paint over quick drying acrylics!). You're lucky Suna - you work with many different media, so there is always something to create. Love your grey pastel on the paper, I never would have thought of that. Very creative. - Nan

Nan, thank you very much. I like acrylics too, but wasn't able to work properly with them I guess. I will use a smaller size canvas and try again . Never quit. I was thinking of buying water soluble oils. I need a change for some time, I got bored with pastels. Also, I have to learn to work faster, I think . Thank you. ---Suna.

Nan, Your painting turned out well. I like the artistic license you took. I hope mine turns out as well. I keep changing the size of the barn. I guess I better go with what I have or I'll never get mine posted.

Lavanya it looks smooth on my monitor. I like the way you added interest to the sky. The grass really looks like it is growing up around the wagon. The hills really have a lot of distance. Pleasing to look at.
