Lavanya, I like the sky in both of them. The half house keeps the eye from falling out of the picture. Kathy |

| I just found this forum and I am really excited. I paint in Oil and look forward to joining your group. I printed several of the photos so that I can start to work on them this weekend if I find the time. My mother's birthday this weekend. I reviewed several of the topics. You guys are doing a great job. |

| Tonya - Yay! Another southern girl! Happy Birthday to your mother from all of us, I'm sure. Look forward to your playing along with us. I have very little painting time, too, but I try to make the best of it. Hopefully, I can do some on this one this weekend, too. I have committments all day Saturday into the evening but I'm hoping for Sunday as "decompress" time for painting. Casn't wait to see your work and WELCOME! |

| Well, I've got the Oregon Coast painting done tonight. It's a simple version, 9x12 acrylic on canvas sheet. I hope the photo is ok, I had some trouble downsizing it to be 100k. The vertical "lines" you see in the sky is where the paper actually rippled from getting wet. I bought a cheap canvas pad and regret it. The sheets do not hold up well at all - learned my lesson on that!
Everyone's work is wonderful. I love seeing all the different renditions, and in different media.
Now, on to the next one. I may have to circle back to the little parakeet and play catch up again. - Nan |

| Finally, here is my effort. Acrylic - 11 x 14 gesso board. I have had a computer crash. I really like my new one but I lost the photo editing program I really liked. Using the "updated version" but I don't really understand it. YUK - guess I just need to get used to it. (The cat in the window was a lot more difficult than I anticipated! Took several attempts.) |

Holland: The cat is real nice touch. I like the interest you added to the house. Everything looks good. Almost looks like a photo. Nan: I like the way you gave us an impression of a beach near the house. The whole painting looks good. Kathy |

Thanks Kathy & Nina - I personally think every window needs a cat and when I think back, I think every window I have ever painted had a cat in it - maybe not, but I sure remember a lot of them. (A dog on a porch seems to be an essential, too!)
Nancie - you posted your version just as I was struggling with my house. I studied yours (and your grasses) so my thanks to you for your inspirations! I really tried but couldn't achieve the light and airy feeling of yours. I love the movement in your grasses. |

Actually Holland, I think you got that airy sensation in your grasses. And I LOVE the addition of the cat, great touch in the window. Your rendering of the house is very well done also. Good work! Thanks everyone for your comments on mine. Kathy - I had to add the indication of a beach. The poor house seemed to be flooded other wise. -Nan

| Fred - I've never been to the Oregon coast but I do live in the Blue Ridge Mountains! Having said that, this scene looks more like a fantastically peaceful day at a Blue Ridge Mountain lake. But then, that's part of these challenges - take the initial inspiration and change it to our liking and I certainly like your rendition! Your sky colors and lake reflections are great. And is that you enjoying the view from the porch? Love it! |
