watercolor 9 x 14  picture seems dark since I painted and took picture at night, so just look from the side.

Wow - that was fast - Sarah only got the picture posted yesterday. I'm still woking on "Freddie, the parakeet" but I may try this one for a change of pace. I have trouble with buildings and straight lines so maybe I can figure out a way around that. Do you have a photo editing program - sometimes there is an "auto adjust" setting that will lighten it up some. Would love to see this one in person.

After a long sleepless night, I made this in one hour and want to call it '' solitude''. There is no color contrast and it gives me a lonely feeling. What do you think? 32x50cm. Pastel.

Today, I paint like a child. Think because I am sleepless. I wanted to show this one too. Half hour drawing. 35x50cm. pastel. I wish I didn't put those red bushes in the front.

I like the 2nd one best. It has character. I think the red bushes break up the monotony of the grass. I hope to have time to squeeze this one in. I'm working on a portrait in Wet Canvas.

Thanks Sailspaw for filling in.

Suna - I like them both. "Solitude" is a good name for the first. I agree with Kathy - I like the redish color in the grasses and in the windows of the second one. I also like the child-like appearance of the second one. I think we all lose that quality much too quickly - it's fun to resurect it

Hi, everyone. My first time posting something in one of the weekly challenges. Holland convinced me when she said it really helps growth as an artist. Don't know if I'll have the time to join in every time, but as much as time permits. I had fun doing this one. It's watercolor on 140 lb. watercolor paper. Also wanted to say I enjoyed seeing all the different versions. Sorry I missed the parrakeet one. that would have been fun too...

Nina - I am really enthusiastic about all the different interpretations of the same picture, too! These challenges do not really have a deadline - just a suggested time frame. I have only finished one of them but I will finish the ones I have started (Lilies in the Dark, Orange Sky, and the Parakeet) and still post them when I am finished. Jump right in on the Parakeet - I'll love seeing your version.

I love the bright daylight shining daylight feel of your Oregon Coast. You even got the reflection in the window. I may try this one if I have time - I was thinking about putting a cat in the window !

Holland , thank you for the encouragement and compliment. and for telling me its not too late to do the parakeet. I printed out the picture for that one and orange sky. Hopefully I'll have the time to do them. i look forward to seeing your versions of these too. A cat in the window would be great. Happy painting...

Nina, your use of transparency in watercolor made a different effect. I agree with Holland, the brightness is nice in this painting. It's interesting. Susan, the picture is a bit dark here, but I can see that the grass is painted very nicely. I can guess the colors are bright too.--- Suna.

I've just discovered these challenges and think this is a wonderful idea. I hope I can find the time to paint something so I can jump in here too. I'm glad to see the target date isn't really a deadline as I'm sure life would get in the way for sure if it was. I'm thrilled to be given a subject to play with on days when I'm headed to class and still wondering what to work on. Thanks!

Lavanya - I really like this one, too. I like the little hint of color in the sky and I can almost feel the breeze through the grasses.

Yabut - jump right on in - where ever you want to start. The more people we have participating in these challenges, the more fun it is (and for me, the more I learn from everyone else)! I try to post at least what I have finished by the suggested completion date but I am posting progress after the date (most of the time) and I will post completed challanges - when I actually complete them, regardless of the date.

Yabut, come and join us. We are having fun time with these challenges
Lavanya, have you changed your first painting or is this another one? I like both of them. The sky and the grass is very nice in the first one. İn the second, I like the sky blue and the grass most again. The house is cut in half, wish it was whole. The colors are very nice. Both are well done. --- Suna.
