| Sarah - I know this is just an "oops" for you - but this one is not "Orange Sky". And, although I would love to take credit for submitting it, it's not my submission. Hope to be able to try this one. I have never tried birds! |

| I started to work very fast, but I work on small pastel paper. 33x45 cm. I tried something different again. What do you think? |

| Suna - Wow, that was QUICK! I love your composition. Your darker backgrounds certainly show off the colors of the bird well. I am in awe of your control and detail with pastels! Since I have the morning off from work today, I'm going to see what I can start with this one. (Then I will go back to your Orange Sky picture - I have started on it, too.) |

| Suna, now I'm wondering when you sleep. Ha ha. What you've done is such a good blend of the graphic elements and realism. You must have had fun creating this one because it shows. You have a keen eye for combining elements. |

| Thank you Lavanya, Holland and Kim. I read the coments all over the forum late at night and also in the morning every day. I felt that, I am talking too much. I will stop making comments and only read others. I may hurt somebody with my straight words.--- Suna. |

| Suna, I am impressed with how fast you did this! And I too like the combination of realism with the abstract. I particularly like how you offset the two graphics patterns.... very nice. I would like the parakeet to have some of the orange that is complementary to the blue. |

Suna, I like this painting the best of all you have posted. (By the way: His name was Freddie and he managed to fly away when I was cleaning his cage.) Kathy |

Thank you for your comments Barbara and Kathy. As a personal choice, I don't like mixing colors too much. I like them as they are. Maybe this isn't good for realistic painting, but I like it. Also I am not sure if I am painting realistic-- or what? I mix everything together sometimes, and don't know what I want to do. It's just painting, doesn't need a name. --- Suna. |

| I'm not sure this is "'Freddie", but he certainly is a parakeet. I am going to put him in a blooming azalea bush but I thought at least I would post my "work in progress". It's acrylic on a 9 x 12 canvas board. Any suggestions so far??? |

Thanks, Suna. I can't wait to start putting some blossoms in! Hope I can post again by tonight.
I have done more work with acrylics than any other medium so that's what I had on hand when I started painting again. This forum has done miracles for me - it has stretched me beyond what I have ever tried to do before. It is also humbling - makes me realize how much I have forgotten and how much I never actually knew! I have loved doing these challenges. Just wish I had time to do more! |

| Thanks, Kathy. I think I got him a little too chubby but at this point, he's just going to have to stay chubby. (Sorry, Freddie!) I am at that "ugly" stage with the flowers so I'm fairly sure I won't be able to finish it up tonight. And, Suna, the flowers are pink. |

Thanks Priti! Good luck on your solo show - I've been watching your blog and can't wait to see more.
Progress report: The composition of the flowers I started on was all wrong so I painted them all out and I'm going to begin on them again. I sure would like to be able to capture your sense of "bold" in this one - without detracting from "Freddie". I'm not sure I can make that leap yet.
In the meantime, I have spent the last 5 days or so fighting with computer problems. After many headaches trying to "fix things", I now have a new computer. Should have done that on the first day - I would have had much more painting time if I had! |

| Well, here is my "parakeet", I'm laughing for he looks better than this picture. I don't really know how to touch up photos that I take and sometimes the real thing is better than the photo. It's watercolor and 9 x 12. Thank you for letting me be a part of your group. I love all the painting that have been posted. Susan |
