Hi everyone. Sorry I've been absent of late. My mother-in-law took a fall, and we've been running to hospitals & what not. Things are better settles now & I went online tonight to see how things are.

WOW! What a great group of renditions! I impressed!

Priti- love your interpretation. The grapes on the plate is perfect. And I love your composition.
Dana - fabulous painting. I love how you used the paint to make the fruit sparkle!
Barb - you have rendered the fruit perfectly!
Kathy - your details are absolutely perfect. Love your grapes! And the banana is so realistic.
Susan - you enhanced the fruit. Added to it. Like Barb said, your greens now make the reds pop!
Tami - great rendition. Your apple looks good enough to take a bite out of it!
Great work everyone!

I'm posting mine, but I have to admit this is my second painting. I struggled so much with the plate, the placement -- I think my head wasn't on painting this week and I had trouble concentrating. Anyway, I finally chose to narrow down to just the grapes. But I used the grapes I had in the house, so there is a mix. Hence the name "Mixed grapes" - acrylic on 9x12 sheet.

I give up. I can't get my carriage returns to work - so everything is one big paragraph. Had this before, but was always able to retype it & it worked.

Sorry all. (let's see if this one worked!)

Ok, got it to work, but I had to literally type in the code for each of the returns ( < br > )

thanks so much, barbara! Nan, glad you didn't give up! You're grapes are luscious!

I hope the momentum here remains with the next challenge! Landscapes are not my thing but I'll give it a go!

Hi Nan, so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. I know how disconcerting taking care of an elder parent is. I hope she is doing well now and that her rehabilitation goes smoothly.

Your interpretation is so much fun! LARGE mixed grapes...if you hadn't named them I might have thought they were melons! I love the range of colors and the compositriuon. Glad you were able to complete a painting with everything else going on.

Tami, just jump in...we are all on this journey together...and part of the fun is trying subjects we wouldn't ordinarily paint!

I hope we keep the momentum going too....and we still have some promised participants who haven't turned up yet....you know who you are. Pick up that brush or that pastel or colored pencil and do the next challenge with us.

Everyone's work has been fantastic. The summer has been full, but I did manage to finish this the other day. I think it was done in two sittings of about 2-3 hours each. Much to my surprise, the fruits were easy - it was that darn shape of the bowl that I kept fussing with; I finally gave up. Painting area is 5x7. Oil on paper.

Hi Kim, This is wonderful. You have captured such realism and detail in such a small painting. I am not sure if the unusual placement of the banana works....but it gets my attention.

Kim you did a great job with the fruit. The bowl is actually round (very circular). It was the angle I shot it that gave it a confusing shape.
Nancy I guess there is such a thing as too big. I seem to see peaches.

Barbara, I'm with you on the banana. There are some days that I do things and wonder later what I was thinking. The placement of the banana occured on such a day. I think I was trying to give a little distraction from the bowl; also, when I drew it, my defined painting space was larger than the banana and I didn't have one to reference to complete it, so I rotated it.

Barbara and Kathy - thank you for the kind words; I really appreciate them. It's interesting what a camera can do to a round bowl. lol.

Kim - great job you did on the fruit. It looks very realistic, and I know the unusual placement of the banana seems a bit odd -- but it really looks realistic. Nice job!!

Barb & Kathy - yeah, I guess I got a little too large on the grapes, eh? Melons, peaches -- yes, a wee bit too big. But it was fun!

Hey Kim! welcome back!

Here's the story behind the banana, It has been picked out of all the other beautiful, delectable fruits in the bowl and your rendition depicts its position half way between the bowl and mouth! You just can't see the hand! Great job! teehee!

J Ramesh, thank you. I'm really trying this year to succeed. I don't know if I'll recognize my own success when I reach it, but I'm sure enjoying the process. Today I completed "Fred". I'll be posting it under Oil when I can get to my husband's computer and download the photo. I am jumping for joy at its result. My hope is that you will have seen some of my paintings from a year ago and see much improvement.
