Looking forward to your rendition!

This weekend is busy for me (It is my 25th wedding anniversary)  so i am done quickly. I think i overworked this one so i had to stop, but i might go back to it after it dries and try to bring the "sparkle" back.
I look forward to seeing everyone's work.

Dana, I like what you did with the Banana. I thought it would be the easiest fruit in the photo. I played around with it so much. I gave up on the photo banana and bought one. I hope I can do something with it now.

Thank you both. Kassie, that dratted banana! One reason it is so detailed is that it was driving me bananas (bad joke, I know) to paint it. I love yellow. It is probably my favorite color, but this little guy -- sheesh!

Hi Guys, Kathy, this is a beautiful photo...thanks for sending it. Well the grapes were a real challenge for me. Here is my interpretation. Nupastels on Black Lacarte sanded paper, 4.5x6 inches. I notice now that my camera was not square when I took the picture so the bright blue in the top left is my painters tape...sorry. Priti, your grapes are soooo realistic...and I love the simplicity of the composition and the shadows....I had trouble deciding which direction the light was coming from. Dip, the looseness of your watercolor is wonderful. I really like the interpretation of the bowl and napkins. Can't wait to see all the rest...keep 'em coming. I see we have another cahllenge posted!!!! Barbara

When I first started with oils I would frequently do a still life beause it reminded: shape, value, shade, for other paintings.  This is my first still life for years. I found the bananna the most difficult. This dish is actually a bowl.

This is oil 12 x 16 on canvas board.

yikes! time has gotten away from me this week! I'm still going to try to get a watercolor in by tomorrow...

Happy Anniversary, Priti! Love the grapes and their shadows, now is that pastel or oil?

Dp, love your frosty grapes! Barbara, your colors are fab, and Kathy, you certainly haven't lost your touch doing still lifes, this is fantastic. The dimples on the orange and the specks on the apple have me mesmerized!

Susan, I like the way you sprinkled the colors across the canvas. Green grapes was a good idea. I was wishing there was some green in the photo to complement the fruit.

Susan, Wow, I had trouble fitting in the small number of fruits there were...you have expanded on them! Is it oil? and how big? I agree with Kathy, you have balanced your colors very well and the green makes the apples and now strawberries pop!

Phew! I made it...not the best but sure was fun and worth the practice!

So glad you joined us, Susan!

BTW, It's 4x6 watercolor. I thought I would do some of these challenges on the cards that came with a greeting card kit I got a long time ago... Then actually send some cards to friends!

Tami, I am so glad you squeezed this one in! Wow...it is great. As I have said before, watercolor is such a difficult medium for me that I am in awe of you guys that can whip these thiings off. This is soooo realistic! Great colors and I like the that you changed the rim of the bowl to blue green to complement the oranges...I tried to add a little in my shadow but this works wondefully.
