First -- Thanks in for reading!
I'm trying to find an image that would be appropriate to my soon-to-be-published book on the subject of testimony. I am interested in finding an image (the like of which I'm sure I've seen in gallery exhibitions) that portrays a subject behind a mask -- but in such a way that the outer mask is presented as more alive, "real" or substantial than the subject behind the mask.
I seek an an image, in other words, that reverses the interior/exterior associations that usually accompany the motif (i.e., mask as superficial and constructed in relation to the real, non-constructed "inner" subject).
I would be enormously grateful for any thoughts on such images that you may have seen.
