I have to admit I'm not as knowledgeable about artists as I'd like to be.

My favorite artist is Francis bacon. what I'm looking for are visual artists influenced by him that have the same sort of visceral violent energy. suprisingly the only artists I'm aware of that manage to capture that intensity are lucian freud and ralph steadman. oh and Lee Bontecou. I'd prefer something that has that surreal nightmarish quality. I know there must be a slew of them out there being that francis is one certainly one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.

I think it is also important to note for the sake of getting suitable recommendations that I hate dali.
