This is a beautiful technique, very nicely rendered. The title makes me wonder what I am actually looking at. Did you do this with watercolor colored pencils? The title is a little disturbing. -Krista

Krista-

Thank you. I do believe this is the only piece of art I have ever done that could be considered a little bit controversial. I have had so many different reactions ranging from good, supportive, inquisitive, to calling it blasphemous (an obvious interpretation of the piece as the crucifixion), calling it confusing and even calling it garbage. It was really nothing more than experimenting with a new way of applying (for me) colored pencil and I used a facial study I had done some months ago to work on. It took on the palor of death to me and there I came up with the title. I developed the body as female only because the original study was a female face. I think it is really great that all these reactions have come about and whether the reactions are positive or negative becomes secondary to the reaction itself. In all these interpretations the piece takes on many alter egos. It really makes art a lot of fun sometimes. To answer your question, I used Prismacolor pencils exclusively along with graphite. Thanks for the comment and for viewing it.
