Hello!

I love colored pencils, but when it comes to doing large artworks with them it is painstaking. Take this as an example: my version of the classic "American Gothic." Instead of people, I made the figures chickens. The title of mine is "American B'gothic." It's 18x24" - I did it in high school, and it was a miracle that I completed it. Two more colored pencil pieces are here - one is a freakish cat skeleton thing (don't ask, bad day) and the other is a fantasy mix of a zebra, unicorn, and pegasus. The first is called "Return" (11x14") and the second is "Unizebrus." (I can't remember the size...)

Comment if you like, and thanks for viewing my work!

Hello and good work! I have to admit that I'm not a fan of this sort of subject matter but I am a fan of your talent and skill. Could I ask what kind of pencils and paper were used on the Unizebrus? The colors are very vibrant on that paper. I went to your website and wow!

You're incredibly talented and imaginative! I LOVE the first one. The others show extreme skill, too. I'm envious!

Thank you Robert! I do whatever comes into mind, even if it's on the stranger side...anyway, Unizebrus was done with Prismacolor colored pencils on deep black artist's paper. I think the paper brand was Artagain. I discovered that black paper works very well with prismas. I've used crayola's on them, but they aren't waxy enough and the black shows through. For some reason the black paper makes the colors pop - it's amazing! Try it and have fun with it!

Thanks again and I'm glad to help!

Cara

Wow! I love your imagination. I prefer seeing boundaries pushed and, as a noob here, it makes me feel better about sharing some of my own "weird" stuff.
