Here is my first attempts at color pencil. I like working with them but I just haven't done any more lately...second attempt is the '29 highboy. (no where near the quality of Gene's work!!!) Titled 'Flamed suede Highboy'

It is titled 'Dad & Charlie'

Hi MIke, I'm Gene, and I do not do colored pencil work. I think you were referring to gbritnell and her/his great automotive artwork. I do mostly pastel, and some watercolor. But I wish I could do work like this. If this is your first colored pencil work, I am truly amazed. I especially love Charlie and Me. ..............Gene

Thanks for setting me straight, Gene. Being new here tends to confuse my already puzzled mind! (I did mean gbritnell). Thanks also for the compliment...

Art, thank you also!!!

This is great. I don't know who "dad" is but I could just see him now. Really seems to show his personality. Love it!

Beautiful work, Mike! Would never have guessed this was your first try at colored pencil. I'm not into cars, but I think the front left tire needs air I love both pieces.

Thank you all!
"Dad" is my dad...Charlie, as you've probably guessed is his best friend. Charlie is gone now and dad is in hospice. I'm sure that they will be together again soon...

Sizes are: 16x20 and 14x18 respectively. Paper is Canson Mi Teintes and Strathmore...pencils are a mix of derwent and prismacolor.

Ha ha , Lucie!   Yeah , I have problems with elipses on cars and other things. And, to be honest, the paper wouldn't allow too much erasing...I need lots and lots and lots and lots of practice!

with canson bristol plate finish,white....the surface permits a bit of leeway with erasing...but if its serious you really have to use a battery operated, or electric eraser with cps.....and before ya laugh....i too once giggled and thought it ridiculous to buy one of em.....but? dont mock me till ya try!
you can get a very inexpensive one, helix battery operated, cost about $10.00
in an art store that will cost double...i have seen it with my own eyes, same brand...~wink~...

on canson plate finish, the surface is so slick that the eraser can really save a piece!...
on the down side, you have to learn to hand the slick surface with layer work....you can peel sections away
if you use ~backstrokes~....so one tends not to do that further along in the piece....ahhhh but there is soooooo much to learn with cps....lolol..one never learns it all!

A battery operated eraser!??? Next you'll want me to buy one of those battery operated blower thingies!!! (already got one of those)

Thanks, Betty Ann! I will try one and the paper also. I got stuck on Canson's Mi Teintes paper and really like it for pastels, but I need a tougher paper for the pencils. I make tooooo many mistakes for the less forgiving papers out there!

I appreciate your expertise in this area

Mike
