I have been working in several other mediums for many years now, but find CP fits my style more than the others. This is my first attempt at uploading an image here. It is one of my Connectivity Series - "Ebbtide". I would really like input - good and bad. The original is 17"x14" and much more lively in person. Colors sparkle much more. I must have taken 50 digitals of each image and find they are so busy, the camera seems to not want to capture everything. So, please have at it. Many thanks

This is fasinating. Not just the color, but the idea and size. Where do you come up with the patterns?

I'm restricted to size because I have to be mobile. How do you go about creating such a large piece of work? How long does such a piece take to complete?

I know most/any art is finished when its finished, but in general, how often do you work on this? How does the ideas come up, this is a large work for pencil compared to a paint brush.

I like it! Did you figure out the composition on a computer and then translate it into colored pencil? Or did you just lay the color on the paper from imagination?

I find if I tilt my laptop back at an angle I can really sharpen up the colors. Looking at it straight on it becomes very dulled out. I'd love to see it in person. It's a fascinating piece of work. The colors are great together. And I can see various shading in many of the different shapes. Wonderful work.........Gene

Thanks for your input. This is just from imagination. I have about 10 of these in various designs and color and for once in my art life, I am very happy with the outcome. I am not sure the general public concurs, but it is very satisfying to me to start with a few lines and circles and just draw.

Like any other artwork, I tend to want to get my hands on it and make improvements, but these seem to be finished and stay finished, satisfyingly so. I am using plain old construction paper on the pad and the color scheme tends to come from the color of paper I choose. I use fixative about 3 or 4 times and then have to go over the colors and textures, as the spray lessens the color. The finished work is sealed in Krylon and put in a floater frame.

Thanks again for all your input. Pat

its intricate and must have taken time to create it !...the colors are pleasing too......many times we forget that abstract/contemporary art also complies to rules of all styles.....

one way to find out if your contrasts and values are pleasing is to pop your images into greyscale, when i checked it? i saw that you are missing really dark values, strong contrasts....maybe this will help?

Thanks "one who sees" You make a point that I should have readily known and forgot to do. Next time, as it is all shellaced and on a gallery wall. Hasn't sold yet, so I expect to get it back. I probably won't be able to darken anything. Again thanks for your reminder. Pat
