  Hi

Am new to using color pencils. Did this quick, small sketch (around 7x11 inches) using color pencils and outlined with gel pen. Would like to have your views on it.

its an interesting quilt of colors....always remember to follow the lay of the land with the strokes..it will help build up your texture as well as your color layers...
i cant help but feel the colors in the landscape are a bit intense for the type of sky you have laid in...a bit of greyed lavendar instead of purple helps keep it a bit muted...sand,cream, the french greys and cool greys can help with your shading colors...celadon is another good color for adding to others, its a grey green...clay rose, golden rod, terra cotta, burnt ochre and putty are just some of the additional colors that could help as well...
what type of paper did you use?

make sure the gel pen is permenant and lightfast, else your colors could fade!

Hi
Thanks a lot for your valuable inputs! I was really wondering how to use colours that go with each other in a better fashion. Your inputs will definitely help me.
I used an artists sketch pad to try my hand at using color pencils. Not a very high quality one, but something decent. I have not checked what grade / quality it is. Its good enough fo rme to practice.
