Hi Everyone,
This is my latest wildlife drawing/painting. I wanted to create something that made strong use of two complimentary colors (in this case...blue and orange). Actual size is 13" x 14.5". I used Prismacolor pencils (as always) on Strathmore 500 series 4 ply cold press paper (again, as always).
Any and all comments always welcome and thanks for looking,
Scott

Gorgeous picture Scott! From looking at it on-line, I never would have guessed that the background was done with pencil. Looks like paint. Love the blue jay! I sometimes take photos of birds, but I haven't been able to "catch" a blue jay yet!

Thank you Jess. I used a photo reference to create this. I obtained permission to use this from a professional bird photographer. She's a really nice person. Her name is Claudine Besse. If you'd like to check out her work, here's the link: http://www.treknature.com/members/claudine/

It's very pretty! I especially like how clean and detailed the bird is- bravo on that! I think it's also neat how you managed to use complimentary colors without making the picture jarring. Lovely work; quite an enjoyable piece!
